I worked in 5 R. presidential campaigns. This is my account of how the R Party became Trump. Not a book i thought I’d write but a book I felt I had to write.

Great piece by @jvlast. If the Democrats had nominated George Wallace and the Democratic Party establishment embraced him and he won, would the ramifications for Democrats have ended once Wallace left office?https://twitter.com/BulwarkOnline/status/1206923284635357184 …

That is a rather horrifying alternative history. And the ironic thing is that a fellow (albeit significantly different) southern Democrat probably was the one who stopped it from happening

Reveals the true consequences to the Republican party when they gave shelter to the Dixiecrats when they fled the Democratic party after LBJ crushed them. They nursed them back to health and in turn, they cursed the GOP like a metastasized cancer. Diagnosis: terminal.

The "Trump Is Forever" piece is interesting (& scary). One Q - under point 3, wouldn't his influence over GOP be greatly reduced if he loses in 2020? He'd still have (smaller # of?) fans but Fox might stop amplifying him - & some elected GOPers might ignore or counter?

I read this article and I gave thought about it all day. Trump is only forever if the GOP want him to be. If they vote for impeachment and removal, it resets the GOP agenda. If not then they have to be prepared for an endless nightmare.

I wouldn’t bet on that one; republicans have been a disgrace for a long time but tRumpf took them over the edge!
