Would you say the same for Amazon and eBooks? Self-pub writers in same boat.

Re “84% of apps are free, and developers pay nothing to Apple.” -> why am i paying a yearly apple dev membership of $99 then? Did they get rid of that just recently?

Agreed; and the oversight should NOT be from just one country (i.e., the USA). Otherwise it will bias the process in favour of developers from that country. It should be an international /global effort as the App Store is an international/global store.

I thing the review guidelines and policy is overall fine, but I think the scale pushes reviewers to reject for nit picky things while they miss blatant others (scam subscriptions, trackers).

I’d like more consistency in the review process. Sometimes your app is rejected when you submit version X, while the N versions before that passed the review having exactly the same behaviour. At least review are really quick nowadays

I think Apple App Store should be a independent company so Apple is attached to the same rules in regard of 70-30

I wonder if a default of ‘almost no review for updates’ but ‘significant review for top free/paid’ - with significant penalties - would be better.

I wouldn’t say unpopular, this is more or less my opinion as well.

Same here. I have quibbles, sure, but I largely prefer a gatekeeper than a free-for-all.

But I do think there needs to be external, independent oversight, because the App Store is too important to society for any one person to be the sole arbitrator
