With a little more effort, I ported a real app to Marzipan — my own ! Marzipan reminds me a lot of Microsoft's WinObjC — most of the bringup issues are similar (except Apple's version of UIKit has all the APIs) 😂 Can't wait for Marzipan to come to devs in 2019

One thing about Marzipan is that UIKit's deprecated classes are actually gone now on macOS, so you'll be forced to modernize your codebase
If you try and use AppKit inside your UIKit app via Marzipan, you'll suddenly find yourself with two processes, as UIKit's rendering & input is handled entirely by the host shim. Barring some major architectural changes in 10.15, this won't be a viable hybrid UI strategy

That said, a function is a function, and there's nothing stopping you using all sorts of non-UI Mac API in Marzipan right now. Carbon? Go nuts. 😂

The UIKit APIs for adding window toolbar buttons and menu items to desktop apps are pretty simplistic in this release of Marzipan

Probably a good thing in the long run. I would assume they did this to slim down any of the binaries / libraries as much as possible. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
