    Draft law introduced in 's State Duma that would ban equating Nazi Germany and Soviet Union. That, invariably, will lead now to comparisons of Nazi Germany and Soviet Union. And just in time for VE Day. Well done, State Duma.

    I am so sad. During my tenure as Ambassador in the US, I was privileged to have Vernon Jordan among those I could turn to for informal and always helpful guidance. I lost a wonderful friend. For me, he represented the essential American dream

    The countless leaders who turned to Vernon Jordan for guidance did so because when he spoke, you could hear in his rich baritone the belief in an America that was capable of becoming an ever-more perfect union. It was a journey he’d lived.

    Yep. For decades, STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math - has been all the rage, squeezing civics and history out of the core curriculum. Now we really are living in an age of rage. Bring back My Weekly Reader!

    Maybe it wasn’t such a great idea to reduce the number of classes that teach civics, democracy and American history?

    A suggestion: the next Nobel Peace Prize recipient ought to be Alexei Navalny for advocating peaceful protest against corruption in Putin’s Russia. Doing so would not only be right on the merits but would provide some much needed protection & a boost to Navalny & his supporters.
