.@stripe customer service is always the best.
Their staff always know their stuff and if they don’t, always make sure to get you an answer.

You can hit dispute and they tend to be able to recoup funds.

They couldn't do a chargeback as they're a payment company not a bank. The seller has since disappeared not before fleecing their other subscribers.

Really sorry to hear about the unauthorized charges! To clarify, you should file the dispute with your bank or card network (not Stripe) against the merchant in question—this should enable you to recoup your funds, assuming you have already tried and failed to obtain a refund.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately there's no way to prove I didn't receive anything and the transaction was unauthorized.

Makes sense—however, it's still worth your while filing the dispute. It'll cost you nothing (or perhaps just a small fee, depending on your bank), and there's always a chance that the dispute will be found in your favour.
