Why, Stripe, why? Why do you all of a sudden fail with "incorrect card number" on a subscription that has been working successfully for months?
This is most likely because the card was cancelled or changed. It's worth reaching out to your customer to ask if the card information is still up to date!

But then why not supply a meaningful error message like ”card cancelled”?

We take the decline reasons from the card issuing bank, and they will rarely provide such an accurate error message, unfortunately.
