(THREAD) So. @paypal limited my @NowhereBookshop account when we first opened 3 weeks ago. This meant I could still make sales but not access any of the money. Apparently the fact that we were new & didn't have a business history meant we were a fraud risk....

...I'm lucky that I have enough in savings that I was able to use my own money for restocking and shipping and all that jazz but not everyone has that option. This could really fuck up a new business....

Yesterday
@paypal said they reviewed it all and had restored our account and I breathed a sigh of relief as I was finally able to access the sales $ for the first time ever. Then today they limited my account AGAIN and I still don't have the $ I attempted to transfer yesterday.pic.twitter.com/wyody3vwlN14 replies 6 retweets 232 likesShow this thread -
So Victor talked to
@paypal customer service and they said this was happening because we don't have a business history. But how do you get a good business history if you can't access your own money?pic.twitter.com/E0HnKJuc6410 replies 8 retweets 280 likesShow this thread -
I am incredibly lucky that I have extra money I can use to keep this afloat but for small business owners who don't have a cushion this could be devastating. We'll be fine but I wish I would have known this about
@paypal before I started so I'm sharing with you so you know.38 replies 14 retweets 499 likesShow this thread -

Have your web developer look into using
@stripe instead of PayPal. Daily transfers, no locked accounts, and super reliable.1 reply 0 retweets 8 likes -
We once added one too many 0 when running a customers card. It was not noticed for a few hours then refunded. We were still charged $490 in fees even though we received no $. That is detrimental to a small business.
@stripe has the worst customer service I've ever dealt with.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I've spoken to numerous customer service agents at your company, all promising to "look into it" then never get back to us. I have several emails as well (i can show). I have already chalked it up as a loss and moved on to another company, I suggest EVERYONE else do the same!

Again, we're really sorry for all the trouble here. We'd like to see if there is anything we can do to help—if you don't mind sending us a DM with your email address, we can investigate further.https://twitter.com/messages/compose?recipient_id=102812444 …
