Woah sweet article! Wasn't quite clear to me how perceived brightness related to WCAGs color contrast. For example, did using Lightness values end up correlating to similar contrast values? Looking at the contrast for your badges, it seems like no.pic.twitter.com/ojxixPtbSv

In other words, did you still have issues satisfying the WCAG AA requirement after "flattening" the perceived brightness of your color pallet?

Interesting. Can I ask if you considered colour blindness as part of your accessibility? Is it built into your design system to determine where the colours are used to prevent issues? I ask because some of the colours are identical for those with deuteranopia.

We focused on contrast in this work, with a specific goal to minimize hue changes so we could roll it out without causing new issues. This is something we are specifically looking at now, starting with maximizing color distance between hues to make them easier to differentiate.
