@stripe do you know how I can test the responses to a hard (non-retryable) and soft (retryable) payment on renewal? I tried using 4000000000000341 but it does not seem to be clear if its retryable or not.

The test card ending 341 is designed to successfully attach to a customer, but to decline any subsequent charges. If you're looking to repeatedly test a card, we'd recommend attaching 4242424242424242 to your customer—this will succeed every time.

thanks. I am actually looking to do the following, 1. user signs up for a renewal with 7 day cycle, charge is successful . In 7 days, the card (or a replaced one) fails allowing a recharge and not in two diff cases. is this possible to test?

We don't have a single test card that could accomplish the testing that you'd want to do but you could use a work around. You could use the card ending in 4242 initially, then switch the customer to a test card that will decline the next time it's charged.

Thanks. Can you point me to which card will fail and now allow for retry vs which card will attempt to charge again (using smart retry) and then fail ultimately?

You'd want to add the card ending in 0341 since you'd be able to attach it to the Customer object but once you try to charge it, it would be declined.

Sorry, we don't have a test card with that functionality built in but we agree that having this would be helpful.
