@stripe am I right in deducing that when creating a subscription, it attempts to take initial payment, but if auth is required, the invoice has a payment intent for this. However, is that payment intent always an automatic one? ie, it can't be manually confirmed?
Yes, you are correct! We don't support manual confirmation on PaymentIntents with Billing at the moment but we'll be sure to let you know if that changes.

Ahh shoot. This ultimately means I can't have a shared view for one off & subscription payments as they just require too much "method specific" workflow. Previously both could be processed by just getting a token and sending it to the server.

But the closest thing to that now is manual confirmation, but subscriptions / invoices are automatically automatic. It would be really useful (for ecom integrators at least) if there was a somewhat shared workflow that a single payment view could handle either.
