We already have the billing address, thus we don’t want to collect it again. Regarding existing customers, the linked page says: “Note that using existing customers with plans and subscriptions is not yet supported.”

Sorry about that! In this case yes, the most flexible way is to use Elements. You can collect new card information with billing address and update a customer's payment method. Thanks again for sharing—we'll definitely look into this. - 7 more replies
