@mjtsai This whole auto-save fiasco has caused a lot more problems than it has ever solved. Can you reproduce this one? -
@stormchild I reproduced it on 10.8.1, and I have it set to ask before saving changes, too! - View other replies

@mjtsai Do you have a preferred text editor that actually supports 10.7/10.8 file versions? That’s what I was trying to do here. -
@stormchild No. My preferred text editor is BBEdit, and I have virtually no interest in using Versions. (Already have Git and Arq.) - View other replies

@mjtsai Likewise, and we’re using Hg here, but this was just a simple prototype I was building so it wasn’t checked into anything.

@stormchild Can't use that revision/reversion liony stuff to go back? - View other replies

@acheron And apparently Xcode doesn’t support the built-in versioning either. Seems to be hard to find a text editor that does. - View other replies
-
@stormchild to be fair, it does warn you that it will delete all your formatting and offer to make a copy. - View other replies
-
@acheron Actually, it only does that if the file is locked. For me it didn’t ask about making a copy, and when you ‘undo’ you’re hooped.

@SullysRants Even better: turns out all my Time Machine backups of the victim file are an empty folder called “index.html”. WTF?! -
@stormchild Wow, that is nasty!
