This character with hearts for ears, pool sticks for eyes, Mickey Mouse hands, what is it?

I don't know what it is about KAWS, I can't put my finger on it. His work is commercial, hip hop, branding? He's one of the biggest things in the art world right now.

And then there's KAWS.

This is why people find Picasso's Blue Period so interesting.

There's such a thing as a "hit song" in visual art. A style or approach that drives the art world into a frenzy. But just like with pop music, a song, or style can get played out.

Rashid Johnson could keep making the monochrome paintings and critics would be happy, but he switches it up drasticly. That's why I like him.
