    Last Friday I was in A&E at the beginning of a 7 hour wait after a burn injury to my hand and wrist. The man across from me had taken off his mask and I was quietly fuming. Tonight, I am positively gleeful to be home with my small comforts. 🍷

    This is an intimate piece that gave me another perspective on forced removals in South Africa. It’s by one of my favourites - and thank you Nadia for bring it to my attention.

    I missed this exquisite essay by when it came out in 2010, but reading it this morning...sjoe. Forced removals, the layering of lives, unexpected intimacies, historical reckonings. Beautiful and difficult. Thanks for sharing.

    Feb releases I’m excited about: The Gilded Ones by - this is a fabulous read. It’s a story of finding one’s power in a difficult world, from its wild beginning until the exhilarating climax. is out tomorrow and I totally recommend.

    I wore lipstick the other day and the 7 yr old asked me why I looked “so freaky”. 👹

    I put on a dress and make up today after wearing the same leggings and jumper for a fortnight. The children are extremely confused.
