1. Samuel Hayden was formerly a human turned cyborg with an interesting moral delimma of using hell energy to support humanity, but then got turned into an uninteresting member of the maykr race with indecernable motives.

2. The betrayer was shaping up to be a mysterious lore thread connecting the dynamics of the faction of "slayers" (doom guy's allies) w/ whoever the dark lords of hell were. He was reduced to a throwaway boss character that did little in the way of world-building or explaination

From the moment I started the campaign, I felt like something was missing. My guess is a pre-sequel game that covers time between 2016 and eternal. Might even be a DLC for eternal if we're lucky

No. He's not neutral. He despises all demon kind for destroying his version of earth. And by extension now, destroyed heaven. So he hates angels too. He is far from neutral, goodest good.
