[he/him] I used to do math for a living. I kinda still do. I direct my deep thoughts towards making Git fast for large repositories.

Are you using the microservices-in-monorepo pattern? Get it under control with “git sparse-checkout”

Now in preview - simplify string interpolations!! Place your cursor on the string interpolation. Press (Ctrl+.) to trigger the Quick Actions and Refactorings menu. Select Simplify interpolation.

Did you know that you can hover on the C# lambda arrow (=>) to see its captures?

If the title was "Git sparse-checkout is now easier and faster!" the response would probably be completely different.

Blog titles are important. I chose this one to be a little bit sensational, if not similar to click-bait. Comments did not disappoint. r/programming: hackernews:

Or, I'm just an idiot. (π(d/2)^2 / d^2 = π/4). Of course the area grows at the same rate as the square and circle grow at the same rate. My mind just saw a quadratic and thought "this won't work!"

This tweet put me in pedantic mode: π/4 =⚫️/⬛️ (only when d=s=1) π/4 =⭕/🔲 (for any d=s)

Found this instance of incorrect unit conversions in a coffee table book. At first read I thought “that’s impossible!” followed quickly by “...oh I see.”

For those of you who didn’t live through the invasion of Iraq, here is what is about to happen: 1. There will be a MASSIVE propaganda push (by Republicans) to frame this act of war as a moral necessity and to act like anyone who opposes it is working for “the enemy.”

My internal expectations about how long and how hard I should work are still terribly skewed from those days.

The attitude I had in academia was unhealthy, and eventually led to frustration and burnout (especially when we had our first child). I still struggle with letting work take too large a role in my life.
