How can a paid, professional game journalist be this bad at video games?pic.twitter.com/FlUybbREc9

Dean Takahashi spent 26 minutes playing the first level and he never got past the starting area. This is just the first minute and a half.

I don't know how it's possible to rely on the recommendations of game journalists when they don't even have basic reflexes needed to play.

It explains why they're all enamored with walking simulators. No skill necessary. Just press W and the "game" will take care of itself.

I remember when I had booked in for an interview on Tomb Raider and people were shocked I finished the demo because no-one bothered.
-
also the Mad Max written reviews were very telling at the time, no journalist spent any time on upgrading the car then complained it sucked.
-
I read a review recently of Agents of Mayhem and the reviewer ranted about the "Ministry of Pride" not knowing there were other ministries.
-
Yeah, he claimed it seemed bigoted. Nevermind it's named after the 7 Deadly Sins. Also, the car stuff in Mad Max was great, esp. the grapple
-
I wonder how much it skewed sales as the reviews were so polarised. I definitely had a lot of people that didn't bother buying so watched.
-
It probably hurt the sales quite a bit back then, when YouTube and Twitch weren't anywhere as big as they are now.
-
I know (from talking to devs) turn-based RPGs have a really hard time because players read reviews of those, and they're not fun to watch.

Easy, they watch Youtube gaming videos & write bs without ever playing the game. Thats what ex IGN person told me.
-
That's exactly what many of them do, yeah. Kotaku even had an article where the reviewer reviewed a YouTube playthrough of a game.
-
Hahahahhahah
-
Best part was how every one of Kotaku's defenders tried to play it off as a joke, but it was 100% stone-faced serious.
-
Wasn't it RE7 they did that with?
-
That was the one!

Ian, that's ridiculous. Someone covering golf isn't a golf pro. Financial reporters are not stock market wizards. Cmon man.
-
They don't have to be pros. But basic competency is required!
