I'm pretty sure none of the flat Earth conspirators have ever tried to arrange a phone meeting between Europe, US and Asia

Wow, I was listening to a podcast where they mentioned git add -p. I have been looking for this for a long time!

Fusesoc is "the" solution for dealing with vendor tools. It's autoconf/automake + a package manager for fpga development.

The problem may not necessarily be the tool you use to manage projects. It's probably more of a total lack of understanding about how to communicate in the first place. "Missing the Mailing List"

After another month of working more on OpenRISC glibc, finishing FPU and setcontext/getcontext implementations, I took some time to finish the second installment in my series on Thread Local Storage.

Congratulations and team on the rsd ooo processor. I'm in Tokyo and a member of the it might be good to meet if you are interested in what we are doing.

For the past few months I have been working on fixing up the OpenRISC glibc port. All of this has been with qemu linux-user and a wrapper script. Now I found out about binfmt_misc and chroot very nice:

"Letting junior engineers code without senior engineers to review their work and guide them is equivalent to stashing time bombs all over the codebase." -- Eric Elliott. That's the money quote for me but the entire piece is good and well worth a read. Managers especially.

It pre-dates me. I just cleaned up the code to stop it getting in the way of the main Or1ksim operation. I never met Marko Milnar who is credited with the work. Good idea, but I thought it needed a lot more work - well done to for picking it up.

I had no idea about this thing. Very interesting. I understand that this implementation is a bit rudimentary, but the idea itself seems to be hotter than ever nowadays. Has been involved or was it done even before that?

Here is an example of the verilog generated by or1ksim CUC for a simple memory access foo function (also available in the link). I don't really have any utility for this but doing the resurrection was a learning experience.

I got it working, and it actually generates verilog. It converts c functions to verilog.

It's actually broken now and I'm trying to get it working. It now fails when trying to build up basic block data structures.

Wow, I didn't know or1ksim had custom unit compiler (cuc). I didn't even know what it was; after running a openrisc simulation it can look at profile data and generate verilog for simulated components. Do these things exist anywhere else?

My notes on thread local storage in elf binaries has split into a 3 part blog series. Here is the first installment, an illustrated introduction to relocation entries.

I'm working on a new article as a primer on relocations and thread local storage with openrisc and x86 examples. Hopefully to clarify how the magic works for some. Can anyone tell what tls model this is?

I'm on a business trip to Boston this week. As a contributor I had to stop by on my run this morning.
