Machine guns were never dominant in PvE...
Sorry, I should've clarified. You're right but I think in D2's sandbox with a lack of Exotic rocket launchers and great snipers, machine guns would be the overwhelmingly favorable heavy weapon choice for DPS.

That seems like more of an incentive for them to make new, fun guns, rather than a reason to not bring back machine guns with a revamped slot system.
