(A minor thread) Has been a tough few months one thing and another. Especially the last couple of weeks with health worries, worries about the future, and upsetting news in the family. Combine that with PhD stress and you've a cocktail for some kind of depression.

  2. I discovered philosophy at a turning point in my life. Ten years ago. Nothing has been the same since. I had a similar experience in my teens when I first recognised experimental and improvised music as my music, my musical heartland. What new discoveries yet await in this life?

  4. Like to share this from time to time. A wonderful spilt screen music video session I was proud to be part of a few years back at that with the band. Have a look listen, you won't regret it, it's beautiful

  5. Was asked what title I'd call my autobiography and after careful consideration I think the most accurate title of a history of my career and experiences as a performing artist would be "BUT IS THERE A PIANO THERE?"

  6. The semiotics of old school smilies never gets more philosophical than with the accidental typo of ;-( One accidental winky face + sad face and the whole of rational logic is paradoxed into incompossibility (to draw on Deleuze via Leibniz).

  7. Good solid title there in Edward Campbell's Music After Deleuze (2013: 76).

  8. I read recently that Syd Barrett was influenced by a concert of AMM Music he saw back in the day. And apparently that's why one of the tracks on Piper at the Gates of Dawn is called "flaming" (after AMM's "later during a flaming riviera sunset"). So this:

  9. As promised, a further release in the Live in Mongolia series. This time from a late night after hours session back in April 2007, at the Mealody Club in downtown Ulaanbaatar. An encore of an encore or something like that. Happy days and great memories!

  13. Process is anti-being. Pure becoming. Interesting to note that this philosophical argument can only be written with use of the verb to be (am/is/are etc) when really the process is (sic) about becoming, change, novelty. A new politics of the verb, anyone?

Intensity. That is the key to revolutionary action. Don't just blindly kowtow to the institutions of power. Deterritorialise them. Doesn't matter how insignificant your stand, the act of in-stance can be in itself revolutionary.

  16. Susan Sontag, in her essay on Bataille's Eye, speaks of a "weight" in writing: "a disturbing gravity, that feels authentically mortal". All issues of authenticity aside, this feels a striking resonance with my project of intensity last year (using intensity as modus operandi).
