Interesting stat I dug out for this, the " political crossover" age (the age at which you become more likely to vote Tory than Labour) is... ...in the 40s for homeowners ...in the 60s for renters (based on current voting intention data)

I will have to make a confession that I was completely unaware of the GLC Real Ale Society. The badge lives on in pint mug form...

Rereading The Road to Wigan Pier. I forgot what an absolute joy of a book it is, particularly part two. Orwell's arguments are so very relevant today.

Disagreement is vital to advancing understanding – IF the arguers are committed to discovering truth. Another case for rationality arising from communities with the right norms (w/ J Rauch's Constitution of Knowledge & my Rationality).

When you think of all the lowlifes, fraudsters, conmen, hucksters, corporate sleazeballs, insider traders, gangsters, bent politicians and emotionally empty sociopathic joy destroyers out there - sure, go after Rashford for feeding kids. You twats.

This is good. Some substance finally. Relieved that the 'its been 11 years!' line is also popping up everywhere in Labour comms now, and that is critical - especially against a government which is trying to reinvent itself as 'new'.

I wrote about the behind-the-scenes fights at Facebook over CrowdTangle, data access, and what happened when a Twitter account showed a side of the platform execs didn’t like.

Distressing viewing. Taliban executing 22 Afghan Commandos after their surrender. I’m pretty speechless. What hope our former interpreters and local employed staff.

Would you like to read my diaries? No is the RIGHT answer. But you can read why I've kept one for 40 years, and how it finally led me to writing my debut collection Shine/Variance. Warning: contains Funderland, Simple Minds & vodka. Thank you ❌

As the 2nd Viscount said, “The hereditary system is absolutely mad. I wouldn't like to go to a dentist who, just before he drilled my teeth, told me he was not a dentist himself but that his father had been a very good dentist.”

The main problem with the "Tory conquest of Red Wall is not inevitable" takes is that Batley and Spen is *not* the "Red Wall". That fell in 2019. As has pointed out, Batley and Spen was not a Tory target in 2019 (and didn't need to be to get a majority of 80).
