Quick backstory:
It was May 5, 2020, the heart of the pandemic. I launched OWD as an attempt to learn web dev.
I got really lucky.
This little Flask + jQuery app made it to the front page of HN and ended up winning a Golden Kitty Award 🏆

I rode the initial momentum and built new features + marketed it through basically every channel I knew.
At one point, OWD was making $3.5K/mo, and is currently #1 on Google for "one word domains".
This motivated me to work on it full-time, potentially even raising VC for it.

However, I struggled to find a recurring revenue model for OWD.
The premise of the app was cool, but it was more of a one-time-use sort of app, and it showed in the churn rate (~50%).
I even tried pivoting to an AI-branding tool, but my timing was off.

This caused me to lose the motivation to keep working on OWD.
I realized that I've also built a ton of unnecessary features, which led to a buildup in tech debt.
I also joined in July 2021 – which I have OWD to thank for.
OWD went into hiatus.

Meanwhile, OWD was still doing pretty decent in terms of profits.
While not recurring, it was making anywhere between $500 - $1K in sales per month (and still is)
I also picked up in during that time and fell in love with both the framework and their business model

Hence, a few months ago, I decided to work on OWD again.
I rebuilt the whole app in , , , and , and switched from over to ▲
I also took a lot of inspiration from 's old hero animation, as you could probably tell
