I knew of before I actually knew him. He was first my boss, then became my friend. Paul had a fierce intellect, a wicked wit and informed my thinking on so many things inside and outside of work. He died working on the company we had founded together. RIP.

Shocked and very sad to learn Paul Shetler has died. A great loss. I recruited him in 2015 as first CEO of the Digital Transformation Office to continue the work he had done in the UK. He was as innovative as he was iconoclastic. A visionary in every sense. 🙏🙏🙏

A devastating loss. was a brilliant man, talent and friend. I was lucky enough to work with him when he ran digital, the absolute zenith of that department. Today, we lost a friend. The world lost a brilliant talent with infinitely more yet to give.

Applying for a job at a startup with a thoughtfully written cover letter is like applying for the job on easy mode. Especially if the founders read it.

We've picked up a few FinTech projects at my firm and were thinking of using Plaid but may now use Teller simply due to the fact that wears Yeezys 😂😂😂

When someone replies to a statement you made by calling you names, they're implicitly saying that's it's true. Otherwise they could have shown why you were wrong.

Guerilla startup PR tip. If you: 1. Wear Stanford/Patagonia/Yeezys so dunk on you. 2. Be just controversial enough for another CEO to be triggered into a subtweet. The entire Valley will see your news. Thank you for participating in this 📈

All businesses will have short-term copycats and antagonists that come and go. Creating lasting change requires a relentless long-term focus on the customer, ecosystem, and the future. Ignore the noise; it will stop. Measure your own progress by impact.

Two of smartest people I know and are building . Easily the most interesting bank API company around. They don’t need banks’ permission to deliver. Huge potential. Great team. 🔥

Others talk of “opening the financial ecosystem” but can't deliver table stakes functionality. Put random breakages, stale account balances and transactions behind you. Build products on equal footing with banks themselves. THE GAME CHANGES TODAY. 4/n

Screenscrapers are dumb and brittle. Many things will break them: layout changes, an unexpected advert before showing accounts, etc. So much of fintech rests on broken Rube Goldberg contraptions made of sticky tape and bubblegum. YOU DESERVE BETTER. USERS DESERVE BETTER. 3/n

Q: "How is better than X?" A: Teller has real APIs into each bank while X screenscrapes HTML pages. This makes our API the fastest and most reliable available. If you’ve ever used a screenscraper you’ll know how badly they limit the quality of your product. 2/n
