I honestly didn't think this would work in C++ and yet, it seems to. When I compiled them with clang++ -std=c++98, I expected to get a linker error.

I'm guessing (but don't know) that this is a result of some inline assembly and running out of registers without optimizations. Is that right or some other reason?
