Beyond thrilled to work with the brilliant & the team for the 3rd time! This is my story in every sense -- except the mythological turtle -- and I'm honored to share it. Huge love to the wonderful + for bringing it home!

First off it’s SELF care, so it’s whatever the hell I deem it to be. If eating a whole cheesecake and having an orgy is how I decompress and love on myself then guess what?

CATRACHOS was one of the best books I read last year. The first time I felt seen in a book. And now I’ll be co-editing Roy’s incredible YA debut memoir-in-verse with David Levithan. Me, a Honduran-American kidlit editor editing a Honduran author! A dream and an honor! 🖤

Remember when we all thought we were so clever because we were “still connecting” over frequent zoom gatherings and happy hours, and now, even sending a text back to someone feels like it will take the world’s biggest emotional toll and maybe end us once and for all?

I got a disgruntled email angry that I put politics into a children's book, and the email closed with "Children's Books Should Never Have Politics" Friends, *all* books contain politics. Even kid's books. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is literally an anti-socialist manifesto.

Today, I asked the CEOs of Walmart and McDonald's a simple question: Why should taxpayers subsidize the starvation wages of their profitable corporations. If they think they can avoid answering this question because they declined to testify at my hearing they are sorely mistaken.

When I graduated college in 1968, the typical corporate CEO got 20 times the pay of the average worker. When I became labor secretary in 1993, the ratio was 61-to-1. Today, the ratio is 320-to-1. Capitalism is off the rails.

i wrote about american food media's tendency to treat global food cultures—not all, but many—as monoliths. seeing foodways through regions and not just nations would give us a much broader understanding of food and the people making it

A worthy consideration from : Why do we prioritize efficiency and tech for the future over people? What would it look like if we...didn’t?

The federal government is fully funding our city’s effort house the unhoused in hotels—so why is stopping the city from making use of that money? Over 5 people are dying on the streets every day. We need to house them NOW.
