If you do charity with the expectation that people will like you for it and then are upset when people still don't like you, then you don't understand the meaning of charity

If Mr. Beast isn't upset but rather is genuinely confused about why people don't view his charity uncritically, perhaps he should consider how philanthropy does little to solve the root causes—causes which create the inequality that drives philanthropy.

The easiest way Mr. Beast could avoid the alleged "damned if you do, damned if you don't" paradox: 1. Donate the money without making it a PR stunt 2. Donate more money to organizations working to target the root causes of healthcare inequity without making it a PR stunt

I don’t think most people (non-billionaires) have a critical analysis of philanthropy bc when they donate they do it for the right reasons

I taught English to refugees and immigrants, all worked at a hotel in downtown Jacksonville, FL. It was loosely tied to a church program, but I was able to go rogue and teach the citizenship test and raise guns for the biometric applications for a green card or citizenship.

To be fair I think it's reasonable to be confused when people seem to be more mad at you for doing the correct thing than not. I get that people may think it seems weird to reward people for being decent but you don't generally get far punishing the behavior you want.

In addition, relying on charitable giving by the wealthy to address societal issues implies that: 1) The wealthy know better than the rest of us what issues need addressing and how and 2) wealth entitles one to be a leader.
