Another extreme weight control bx we've started to hear recently is excessive use of waist shapers (all day, when exercising, or when in pain)

folks: have you noticed any trends recently with types of restriction/compensatory bx? We have noticed a huge uptick in use of: (especially in men!), apple cider vinegar (for lax effect), and "detox" teas. Curious if others noticed the same!

While getting my Ph.D. in clinical psychology, I found that most of my family and childhood friends had no idea what clinical psychologists actually did, and now that I've become a professor in clinical psychology, literally none of them have any idea what I actually do.

Academia is not for everyone, but it's definitely for some people, including myself. An amazing thread that perfectly summarizes why I love what I do. (And I'm in a soft money position.)

A couple of years ago a few of us at thought it’d be good to try a “grant-cation,” ie a few days out of the office for collaborative grant writing. Best idea we ever had.

  12. Our summer/spring writing group breakfast celebration! For two hours every week, we sit in a conference room and quietly work on writing projects such as grants, papers, and personal statements for graduate school applications! It’s been a productive 6 months.

I’ve started reviewing grad school apps for our clinical program. I’m constantly re-evaluating my approach. This year I’m not looking at the GRE until I’ve read everything else Is there some evidence-based approach to weighing various factors that predicts research potential?
