It's something we've done informally for a while. Part of the point to putting it in writing and on the site is to ensure we're consistent. And because I think this should be the policy elsewhere, too. Maybe it is already, but, if not, I encourage it!

Wouldn’t treating it as labor mean payment? Not time off?

If they are salaried time off is pay since their salary has an expectation of hours worked baked in. This just means if the spend Sunday working on a review they can take a different day to make up for it instead of having to work weekends on top of their expected work week.
