Interesting. Coalition MP @GladysLiuMP - whose seat of Chisholm includes a high proportion of Chinese Australians - says she will no longer use WeChat in her campaign. The Chinese messaging app has blocked access to the PM's account, drawing accusations of foreign interferencepic.twitter.com/5bgUIFxGTo

Also worth remembering there was quite a bit of controversy about some of her WeChat campaigns in 2019 (although the controversy didn't really touch on foreign policy / foreign interference / the use of WeChat - opponents accused her of scaremongering) https://amp.abc.net.au/article/11121194 …

A little bit rich seeings how the platform was used to benefit her in the 2019 campaignhttps://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-05-17/liberal-supporters-spreading-fake-news-in-hidden-chat-rooms/11121194 …

Probably turn out he messed up his own account. Like when he didn’t renew his domain and some guy bought it and put a loop of “Scotty doesn’t know”

Yeah I think it's highly likely Gladys Liu will lose her seat with or without WeChat.

Lol, an American owns the newspaper The Australian which has obvious partisan bias.

When the gov cries unfair that Labor still has WeChat, I can’t help comparing with the corporate media. It’s not the same, of course since Murdoch doesn’t have nuclear weapons or the world’s largest army, but he also controls much more of our discourse than the CCP does. 😒
