His resignation came the day after Hong Kong chief executive Carrie Lam said Hong Kong had "no separation of powers" which provoked a storm of controversy. There's been great uncertainty over the future of foreign judges in Hong Kong's legal system 3/
I do NOT know if these comments from Lam were what prompted his resignation. I only spoke to Justice Spigelman briefly and he did not elaborate on his reasons, beyond the brief comment above 4/

Maybe in HK a revocation is the way in which a resignation is accepted? Just wondering

Right call on the resignation. The twisted common law system under #NationalSecurityLaw is no longer the common law system we know, not to mention Beijing and Carrie Lam announced the death of separation of power and hence independent judiciary overnight.
