    — thank you . Calling for action is long overdue. The DEA has the power to eliminate unintended consequences of this legislation that prevent people from accessing meds that cut death rates by half or more. Understand how *important* this is.

    Several months ago the DA’s office requested $20,000 bail on my 17 year old client. Had I not convinced the judge to release him he’d likely still be incarcerated pre-trial. Today was his first day of college. These are the stories you don’t hear.

    At worst, prior auths are the difference between life or death... At best, they create gaps in treatment on demand in the context of a world where deadly drugs have no such gap. "Hold up, gotta get that prior auth 1st" said no fentanyl dealer ever.

    Nothing says the opposite of "you are worthy, your life has tremendous value" quite like being slapped in the face w/ needing a prior auth to obtain a med you're trying to save your own life with, in what society calls "the right way" (thru healthcare system vs on the street).
