If you want one that can also be for games, the choice is hands down a Windows. You'll also be able to get much better hardware for less...With a Mac you really only pay for the brand.

You absolutely dont need a mac anymore to do art or even design works. No reason to give apple money LOL get a regular ol windows PC

I'd always go for Windows. It's cheaper and if you plan on gaming, it's a no brainer, since Mac just isn't fit for gaming.

As others have said, there's no particular reason to go for Apple, other than maybe the quality of their screens. Windows has come a long way since the 2000's, the era that this "all designers need Mac" concept is from.

An more relevant question would be if you want to go for a desktop or laptop. The power of modern laptops is so high, it gets close to the big machines (at least for gaming and regular drawing). Either way, don't settle for 8 GB RAM (but pick 16 GB) would be my main advice.

at this point I'd only recommend mac for garageband or if someone's grandparent needed an accessible interface
