facial markings are traditionally female but to me the tattoos for the male kaldorei don't look similar enough to be the same

Interestingly enough, the male Nelves in WC3 had markings but the women didn't.

Woman have Facial markings for coming of age, but the concept of tattoos is not gender locked. Both on body and face.

I see now. I thought that for them either mark or tatoo doesn't matter so long it represents their adulthood? Guess i was wrong there.
