I don't like shitting on the writing... but man, if you do the 8.1 quests from thr Alliance and analyze it from a lore eye, there are just gigantic holes. At this point, especially after the Nathanos voice lines that were datamined, I unironically think they made the "power up"
I replayed the horde side when i was done leveling and ...it had holes too oth Nathanos and anything with Sira. I will need to replay ally too.

Honestly the biggest issue I think that is present on both sides is a lack of thought. Which is an issue in a lot of NE lore, and is a giant issue of Shadowlands lore so far lmao. At this point low key I just hope the writers ignore NEs after this.
