There was a time blizzard wanted blood elf paladins but they saw it as a huge break in the lore and had to invent the entire concept and storyline of the blood knights to rationalize it. Which played out over an entire expansion. I miss that level of care.
Now days is more or less blizz doin fan service but kinda for the sake of it rather focusing on the build up they have already to either to expand it or stuck with it.
