I loved Osiris expansion too but it’s worth to consider that we encountered game after Forsaken(I presume you too?), game was in way worse state back then and that DLC was too small and unrewarding after general disappointment with Red War.
the red war was what made not that wort story wise for me especially when we get out powers back but not anyone else ( aside players) and yeah that is true i think there was a time when loot was not as fun as is now or fair i guess.

Bungo removed random rolls during vanilla period and those were essential to game loop for a long time, plus heartless grind and problems with armor freedom, plus aggressive mtx (sadly they seem to press on last one while fixing other two is good)
