I do not understand the negativity around references. How else are people supposed to learn how something looks, accurately? People are always saying to study anatomy and foreshortening, and a really good way to do that is use sources like @SenshiStock . Credit is key.
I still remember a big drama on tumblr some years ago but someone called out an artist for using poses from real life pics around the Internet to do their commisions as something bad to do. I dont remember how ended but most ppl were saying theres nothing wrong with it.
