we all share content on social media because it's public and that's what makes it great. memes, GIFs, jokes. but often times creators get shafted by parties that use their original content for profit without consent, credit, or payment. this problem needs to be addressed

it would be nice if the people benefiting from this the most (social media platforms and brands) were to buy the meme off of them, so to speak - pay a union rate on the memes, so twitter cuts a big check, and when wendys, steakumm (bless) or IHOP uses it, they ship them a small 1

and when there's multiple sources of a meme (such as the touched up Jesus painting being both the "work" of the painting-damager and the person who started it up as a meme) split it or give them like 75% payment of full rate each, so it's not cannibalizing each other totally.
