Hi new followers! These days I mostly tweet: games, gamedev, narrative, writing, programming, academia, interactive fiction, narcissism

  3. What are some of the most interesting stat/skill checks you've seen in games? Ideally in conversations/narrative content, but open to any interesting things I'm not thinking about.

Here's your periodic reminder that basic research is only "useless" until it suddenly becomes the most important thing in the world. 20 years ago, coronavirology was an obscure sub-field the public never heard about. Good thing we funded it anyway.

  7. I really do wish large games would embrace the mantra that not all players need to participate in every aspect of your game. Things are so much more magical when they're self-directed and could have been missed but weren't.

  8. My attitude toward lots of big games these days is like a pouty teen asked to do chores. "Ugh, do I HAVE to do the fishing tutorial before I can do another battle? AND the crafting tutorial?! UGH WHY DOES THIS GAME NEED THIS MANY SYSTEMS??" 15-year-old me wouldn't recognize me

How to use a medieval bookmark: 1. Read. 2. Spin the volvelle to mark where you stopped reading (I-IV correspond to different sections of the page). 3. Close book. 4. Repeat as necessary. [Orationarium in vita domini nostri Jhesu Christi, ca. 1400. Case MS 37.5]

  10. On the one hand, maybe I’d be pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, humans. I’ve never been so on the fence about attending a reading in my life.

  11. There’s a reading in SF next month and normally I’d never pass up the chance to see a favorite artist but I’m not sure on this particular author: they make these really adorable comics I love and I kind of don’t want to see the person behind the art in case they don’t live up.

Working on a hip hop JRPG and people just seem hype at the concept. That's got me invigorated. What are some aspects of hip hop culture y'all wanna see explored in the game? RT for reach!

Hey twitter! We have an opening for a ⭐️Narrative Designer ⭐️ on our project! Permanent, full-time, onsite in Toronto. You need to be a wonderful writer and also feel very comfortable around spreadsheets, variables, and finicky tools.
