Science has demonstrated that there are many factors that culminate in the expression of sex & gender. There are far more than 2 ways that sex or gender is expressed. Thus, it is not a binary. Categorizing sex or gender as binary is a disservice to the complexity of biology.

2/5. Don’t reinvent the wheel- reach out & ask people to share their expertise & resources! It'll save you countless hours and is often better what you could have come up with on your own.

As a junior contributor, I learned countless invaluable lessons from witnessing this project take shape. () and () already hit most of these in their threads, but here is a smattering of what I've gleaned:

Reminder: Young trans children “transitioning” is extremely low stakes. It’s literally letting them use a different name and pronouns and wear clothes they want. THERE ARE NO MEDICAL INTERVENTIONS UNTIL AFTER PUBERTY STARTS. If they change their mind, WHO CARES?

1/9. Academic Twitter is having the biannual debate about bias and validity in standardized tests. Half of my feed is talking about biases that feed into tests that put low-income and minority students at a disadvantage, the other half: how the tests have helped those students.
