At this point, lockdowns is a waste of time. Pausing spread for later helps a lot, as the country gets to deal with much weaker variants and has doctors and facilities ready for the big wave.

Yes Jamie, except its inexplicable to me that they didnt know this all along ( given they have access to top quality scientists ) and knowing full well it was folly decided to go ahead anyway, could it be they knew lockdowns where a disastrous idea but went ahead anyway?
