    Not sure why this isn't getting more play: Eddie Moran (D) won the mayoral election in Reading. He is the first Latinx mayor of the city, which is 65% Latinx and Pennsylvania's fifth largest city.

    Thank you to my colleagues who supported Senate Bill 300 today. This bi-partisan legislation allows for open primaries in PA. As part of democracy, it is crucial that we allow independent voters to also have a voice in elections.

    One measure of the tectonic shifts in PA politics: In 2008, the last time Dems controlled the PA State House, 34% (35 reps) of the caucus came from SWPA and 36% (38 reps) came from Philly + collar counties. Today, SWPA = 24% (22 reps) and Philly = 51% (47 reps).

    This is definitely the most striking part of this great story on PA political polarization: how the state's legislative map has changed over the years.

    Glad that just issued an RFP for 470 cars to replace older equipment. Cars will be used on the Northeast Corridor and state-supported lines such as the Keystone Service and Pennsylvanian. Look forward to improved wi-fi, picture windows, etc.

    Reminder: Ice and snow can bring down power lines - stay clear since they may still be electrified. Always call your electric company to report downed lines or if you lose power during a storm.
