Super disappointed in this video. Came in hoping to hear a really weird or funny voice, ended up getting just a normal voice and some neat information on Betelgeuse.

All I hear in your voice is passion and knowledge. Great interview! Also thanks for the great new YouTube subscription for me. And I was out on a boat on SF Bay last night admiring Betelgeuse and telling my colleagues about its dimming!

this makes me so happy

Once someone in the YouTube comments told me that my voice was so boring that only I could make the topic of the video boring. I advised them not to watch anymore videos. They said they wouldn't unless they had insomnia. Curing insomnia is like really hard so I think I won.

hahaha this is awesome, thanks Jenny

Hello Sarafina. I heard on Anton Petrov's channel that Betelgeuse may have formed from the merger of a binary explaining its high rotational velocity. An expanding star should lose rotational velocity conserving ang. momentum. If these are its origins, it wont got SN soon.
-
we think Betelgeuse likely swallowed a companion star and absorbed the it’s angular momentum, effectively speeding up the rotational velocity. it’s rotating 150x faster than we’d expect if it were a single, “normal” star. you’re correct, we don’t think it’ll explode anytime soon
