Hi friends! As some of you know, I’m BRCA-2 positive, which means I have a 85+% chance of getting breast cancer. I’ve opted to do a preventative double mastectomy to lower my risk. If you can, please consider donating to help offset my high medical costs.

As a trained scientist and a self-taught artist, the strongest commonalities I see between science and art are the ways they teach and enable us to understand the world around us. Drawing hard lines between the disciplines denies their overlap. Many great scientists were artists

Some of these comments make me madder than the original offense. You asshats know good and well an overwhelming majority of this kind of behavior is targeted at women.

Started off the first of 4 bilateral sensation-preserving mastectomies with this week with a visit from ! So wonderful to get to share ideas around breast sensation and work on ways to teach more surgeons how to offer women this “final frontier”

NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope is retiring. It detected the 1st light from an exoplanet & discovered 7 earth-size planets around TRAPPIST-1. It studied far away black holes and discovered Saturn’s largest known ring. Yes, I get emotional when telescopes retire. Rest easy, Spitzer
