There's an astonishing amount of potential being squandered through the blanket barring of useful drone-related economic activity in the United States. Which is why many people are left to wonder what drones are even good for. It's not that they aren't useful — use isn't allowed.

Also old news...You are quoting from the adjudication of the NPRM that resulted in the Part 107 Regis. The FAA offered a waiver process to carry your tacos earlier this year. The UAS IPP will allow BVLOS Testing as early as 8 August this year.

Fair, tis true the NPRM was published some time ago. I've had a chip on my shoulder about that language since it came out, and forgot I meant to tweet about it ages ago. But, testing is a very far cry from allowing commercial use.

Potentially related, just 2 minutes ago I saw a POV gif from an ISIL drone dropping a 40mm grenade on a vehicle, obliterating it. Replace "grenade" with "taco" and "vehicle" with "my mouth" and everything is fine, but govt still feels weird about this new stuff.
