I'm trying to recall when it became clear that the "web browser" would be the dominant way to be online. I feel it was after 1992 but before 2000. I can't even recall what the markers of change were.

I remember in 1995 thinking I should write a web based email program so I could read email from the browser, so for me, it was around 94-95.
I got online via AOL in roughly 1996, which seemed pretty browserly. I distinctly recall the headlines of the browser wars raging in the news at the time. I'd say my entire online experience has basically always been webpages.

There was definitely a period for me where I had categorized my parents' University internet dial up as a neat but mostly annoying BBS that didn't even have Trade Wars
