There's something remarkable about the explosion of scooters as an SF public transit category — it's that there *weren't* really electric scooters until they became accessible by sharing/app.

I'd definitely been seeing them around for the past 3 years or so- nothing near what we see today, tho. Two main groups used them in my experience: 1) kids (because they're fun as hell, like hoverboards) 2) commuters going the last mile (ANYTHING to save 5-10 minutes a day!)
