This is why I was so surprised at your tweet a month or two ago about the company making FDM parts at a price competitive with injection molding (and EVERY mass-production process?) up to thousands (?) of units. Is a big part of the injection-molding NRE cost the CAM UI?

I will agree on CAM but for CAD the UI'S have more or less standardized on copying solidworks. A decent part of it is you can 3d print a bunch of things that would be a massive pain to machine.

I'd also say the inflation of tech salaries have also caused many of the people who would doing the running of those software packages to be writing them instead.
