So, just to recap today: @sch offered to match donations up to $1,000 for @ProjAlloy and in less than a day we DID that! Any further donations, up to another $1,000 (well, $980) will be matched by @FiloSottile - matching is still in effect. Thank you to everyone who chipped in!
Project Alloy exists in large part because of donations from people who work in tech and who want to pay it forward and get underrepresented folks in the room. Of $1000 in donations to @ProjAlloy that @FiloSottile offered to match, $930 remain to be doubled.
We always hoped the organization could be carried by contributions from people in the tech world, and it's been great and a source of hope to find that this has been true.
We have discussed extensively how @ProjAlloy measures our own success. Metrics are important, and difficult. Over and over people (with much deeper backgrounds in this area than mine) have suggested using testimonials from the people we reach. To be blown away by generosity: not only did @sch make a donation matching $1,000 yesterday, @FiloSottile is doing it again today, and a THIRD donor is offering to match donations beyond that. We @ProjAlloy just need a boost spreading the word.
