You’re a woman invited to give a talk. The invitation includes “we are looking for a female speaker to add to our list” You react: (A) positively - they are proactively addressing the imbalance problem (B) negatively - they should invite me on merit, not gender (C) indifferently

In short, thinking "I'm only here because I'm a woman" is super self-defeating in a room full of guys who are only there because they're men. If you've got the talent + skill, do whatever it takes to get in the room and let what you've got carry you, without worry, from there.
This is the part where I keep my thoughts to myself and let you speak your mind about what women should do.

I was surprised to find how effective quotas could be in dismantling sexist institutions, and I suspect I'm not alone. If there are even better ways to go about it, I'm all ears. My preference is to promote whatever works best.
